Golf Buddy CT2 GPS Review

The GolfBuddy CT2 Handheld GPS Rangefinder can be put on anything, anywhere, anytime, and it’s versatility is practically limitless, aided by its GPS Odometer, 17 hours of life, waterproof-ability for up to 10 meters. It also has Pin Placement technology that’s integrated with its Dynamic Green View feature, distances to layups/hazards, digital scorecard, and automatic course and hole recognition features.

The CT2 is really new to the market. When I say “really new”, I mean dust-free, just barely on the shelf new. Gadget and tech headlines are still in a frenzy over the new golf GPS.

Even though there’s not much to report yet, as far as reviews go, the CT2 is like the jammed up version of the Voice without the audio feature; and the Voice GPS device is a thriving success. If you’re attracted to the Voice, then you’re going to fall head over heals for the CT2.

PROs:
  • Price
  • Waterproof
  • 17 hour battery life
  • Versatile design
  • Non-audio
CONs:
  • Some reports of poor customer service

GolfBuddy CT2 Handheld GPS Q&A:

Is the CT2 waterproof?

For such a fancy gadget, you betcha it’s waterproof! It’s one of the only GolfBuddy GPS devices that’s fully weatherproof, and that’s not all. It’s submersible.

I’m not talking about your average one to five feet of water submersion, I’m talking about this GPS rangefinder surviving a 10 yard dip in the golf lake; not that you should ever have reason to test that out.

Still, if you can trust that it’ll be your pal after a session with the ducks, you know that it’ll have your back when those storm clouds roll in.

Can the CT2 keep track of my scores?

Yes! This GPS rangefinder has a digital scorecard that can keep track of your progress throughout the game. This isn’t a very common feature that GPS rangefinders have, so it’s a smart move for GolfBuddy to include it in their premium devices.

How many golf games can I get out of one battery charge?

This micro GPS has an astounding 17 hours of battery life in one charge. Whether that’s two rounds or four rounds of golf for you, that’s almost double what other conventional GPS golf units get.

GPS rangefinders drain a lot of power for that out-of-Earth communication, so a full and true 17 hours of game play has me all sorts of impressed.

With so many features on such a small display, will it be confusing to use?

Ease of use is always a concern for players who are looking for a no-fuss, yet high-tech rangefinder.

It’s true that there are several features the CT2 has, such as a digital scorecard, distances to the front, center, and back of the green, and pin placement technology; distances to hazards, a built-in clock, and a GPS odometer; auto course recognition, auto hole recognition, and the Green View mode.

Try saying all of that in one breath! Joking aside, even with all these features, it’s still an intuitive and user-friendly device. The CT2 has only four buttons, which makes it super easy to navigate the features.

The display features four icons that lead you to either the Golf framework, the time, the GPS odometer, and the settings. It’s also already been rated the number one ranked micro GPS unit there is.

Can it be worn as a watch?

Unlike its sibling, the GPS Voice, it can’t be attached to a wristband to be worn as a watch. Despite this, its small and extremely compact size makes it so easy to carry around in your pocket throughout the game.

You can also get the clip so you can have it attached to your belt or golf bag or use the lanyard to have it hang from your neck. Because it’s so small and lightweight, it’s really a non-issue when it comes to toting it around the course with you.

Noteworthy Features:

  • Pin Placement Technology with distance readings to anywhere on the course in Green View
  • Built-in GPS odometer and built-in real-time clock
  • Auto Course Recognition and Auto Hole Advance
  • Preloaded with 8 different language options
  • Green View feature with graphic view of the course
  • Distance readouts of the front, center, and back of the green
  • Distance readouts to hazards
  • Statistical tracking features with detailed scorecard
  • Free course downloads and updates; no membership fees ever

Our Verdict

To ping up the strokes, the GolfBuddy CT2 GPS rangefinder is a fantastic, little unit. Enough can’t be said about it and how it performs. Unfortunately, customer service seems to be on the lacking end according to reports. But, the device is fab-fab-fabulous!

If you appreciate audio aspects of a GPS rangefinder, then the GolfBuddy Voice is the only way to go. It’s touchless when you wear it, and it’s unobtrusive enough not to distract your playing rivals, unless you want it to – wink, wink.

The Bushnell Ghost GPS rangefinder comes in a variety of colors, has a backlight, and is cheaper. However, its battery life isn’t nearly as impressive as the CT2.

If you want the best of GPS performance, take it from Golf Buddy that they have your back! Alternatively you can see all of our favorite devices right here https://golftamers.com/best-golf-gps/.
